My wife is a TEACHER but she is also a MOTHER
by: Merbel Ganapin
To the DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
This is an open letter.
My wife is a TEACHER but she is also a MOTHER.......
1. Forgive her if she comes late in school as she also needs to do household chores, takes care of my children and prepares my son who also goes to school.
2. Forgive her if she needs to make an excuse during doctor's appointment/check-up, school meetings, family days/gatherings, important occasions, other emergencies, etc.
3. Forgive her if she comes to school sleepy as she needs to teach her son his assignments, do her required reports/paperworks and needs to study and prepare her lesson for tomorrow. (By the way she always sleeps at 12 and wakes up at 6)
4. Pardon her if she feels down and unmotivated.
5. Please FORGIVE HER, she has nothing to do with it. Im just sick and tired of all her complains which she feels HELPLESS!.
____________________________
1. Please let her value time as much as we value her little time for us.
Give her time for some RNR's setting aside all the paperworks.
And, Please Let her children spend quality time with her.
2. Please let her celebrate her birthday, sons birthday and any other important occasions.
3. Please let her enjoy the weekend as this is the only time for her to rest.
4. Give her the chance to teach her own children as much as she imparted knowledge to others.
5. Let her enjoy teaching without the burden of stress from overloaded reports and paperworks.
6. To the Principal and Supervisors, If you do surprise observations, Encourage her. Please focus on her strengths not on her weaknesses.
7. Please don't scold her, If she is wrong inform her don't belittle her.
8. Please review your policies regarding your required reports and paperworks including completion and submission. (They already spent a whole stressfull day teaching and still need to do reports at home. Teachers do overtime work without proper compensation).
9. Focus more on how to boost the morale of our educators.
10. Dont blame teachers regarding the attitude of the students. This is not just merely a teacher factor.
11. Please have them maximize their supposedly 2 months summer vacation (half of it will be for insets, seminars, brigada, enrollment, etc.)
12. All teachers who completely submitted all reports deserves an O instead of just VS.
My thoughts?
Teacher's Accomplishment equals Principal's Accomplishment equals
Supervisor's equals accomplishment of higher ranking employee..credits will go to the highest ranks..Sad but true
13. LEARN TO APPRECIATE ALL THEIR EFFORTS..
So many to mention.........
I dont want to blame anyone. It's with the SYSTEM. Mahirap kasi sa atin porket effective sa ibang bansa gagayahin na natin. Okay naman ang napo-produce na graduates ng mga kapanahunan namin. Hindi ko nalang alam ngayon..hehe
Are we improving?
(Eh bakit ginawang tamad ng deped ang mga bata.)
I will cite an example.
Si student A tamad pumasok, papasok lang kada exams or important schools activities, sabi kasi ni deped wala dapat babagsak pag may bumagsak reflection sa teacher/school and explanation sa division office. Anong gagawin ni teacher ipapasa o ibabagsak? (toinks)
Kaya pala andami nating highschool students na non-reader. Simpleng comprehension yung ibang bata hirap na hirap. #TruthHurts
Wala na kasi yung essence ng reward and punishment.
Ni simpleng RESPECT from the students nawawala na din.
Not to mention all the additional duties na ipinasa ng DOH (immunization, dengue monitoring, etc.), DSWD (4P's monitoring), REDCROSS, etc.
I am a son of both Teachers. My Father is a Retired School Principal and My mother will be retiring on November as Master Teacher1 (She's on her terminal leave utilizing all her hard earned service credits..Fyi she's just 60, still have 5 years to teach sana kung din lang sa tambak ng trabahong pinapagawa nyo sa kanila)..

Education, infrastructure get bulk of proposed 2019 budget

By TED CORDERO, GMA News

Education and infrastructure remain the top spending priority of the Duterte administration under the proposed P3.757-trillion national budget for 2019, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) revealed on Friday.

The 2019 general appropriations would be the first cash-based budget of the government, with one year validity and a three-month extension after the fiscal year for agencies to settle payments for the goods and services delivered.

READ:  PROPOSED 2019 NATIONAL BUDGET

The third budget crafted under President Rodrigo Duterte gives the education sector—comprising the Department of Education, State Universities and Colleges, Commission on Higher Education, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority—the largest share of P659.3 billion, up 12.3 percent or P72.2 billion from its cash-based equivalent of P587.1 billion under the 2018 budget.

The Department of Public Works and Highways gets the second largest allocation of P555.7 billion, up 68.3 percent or P225.5 billion.

“We are sticking to our plan of focusing on Build Build Build and social services,” Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said.

“These are the priorities we identified as early as the beginning of our term, and we will see to it that investments in these sectors are sustained,” Diokno said.

The Department of Interior and Local Government is getting the third largest allocation of P225.6 billion, up 30.9 percent or P53.3 billion.

The bigger allocations are supposed to strengthen local governance and support the public safety initiatives of the government, the DBM said.

New! RPMS 2018 Manual

Your guide to using RPMS Tools for Teachers from Portfolio preparation to assessment

TEACHERS play a crucial role in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process. Good teachers are vital to raising student achievement. Hence, enhancing teacher quality ranks foremost in the many educational reform efforts toward quality education.

To complement reform initiatives on teacher quality, the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) has been developed and nationally validated. This was signed into policy by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Maria Leonor Briones through DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2017.

The PPST articulates what constitutes teacher quality through well-defined domains, strands and indicators that provide measures of professional learning, competent practice and effective engagement across teachers’ career stages. This document serves as a public statement of professional accountability that can help teachers reflect on and assess their own practices as they aspire for personal growth and professional development.

In 2015, the DepEd issued Order No. 2, s. 2015 — “Guidelines on the Establishment and Implementation of the Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS) in the Department of Education” following Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 06, s. 2012 or the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) to ensure efficient, timely and quality performance among personnel.

The guidelines explain mechanisms, criteria and processes for performance target setting, monitoring, evaluation and development planning. Through the RPMS, the DepEd ensures that work efforts focus towards achieving its vision, mission, values and strategic priorities toward the delivery of quality educational services to Filipino learners.

The alignment of the RPMS with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers has led to the development of new results-based assessment tools; hence, this Manual on RPMS Tools for Teachers.

This Manual provides information and guidance to Teachers and School Heads in the performance assessment process. For Teachers, the Manual guides them through the basics in preparing and completing RPMS documents. It describes the appropriate tools to assess performance and explains the different assessment phases for teachers. It also introduces the concept of annotations to guide teachers through critical reflection of their practices for their continuous improvement.

For School Heads and other Raters, this Manual contains all the information needed to assess teacher performance. It provides a detailed reference to help in the understanding of the tools and the different phases of assessment within the various cycles of RPMS, ensuring that mechanisms are in place to support teacher performance.

Pacquiao will challenge Matthysse for his secondary welterweight world title at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 15 (July 14 in the United States).
Pacquiao, the former eight-division world champion and a sitting senator in the Philippines, will be fighting for the first time since last July, when he lost his welterweight world title by a tremendously controversial decision to Jeff Horn in Horn's hometown of Brisbane, Australia, in the main event of the first card of the Top Rank-ESPN long-term contract.
Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs), 39, will be boxing without Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, whom he fired, for the first time in 17 years -- covering 34 fights. His head trainer is now his best friend and longtime assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez.
Matthysse (39-4, 36 KOs), 35, a big puncher from Argentina who arrived in Malaysia earlier this week, claimed a vacant secondary welterweight title on Jan. 27 with an eighth-round knockout of Thailand's obscure Tewa Kiram, after which Pacquiao sought a fight with him.
