House Bill seeks to protect single parent and LGBT teachers
House Bill No. 1451 entitled An Act Prohibiting the Discrimination of teachers who are unwed mothers, single parents and members of the LGBT Community also known as Teacher's Non-Discrimination Act of 2016 was filed by Representative Salvador B. Belaro, Jr.If House Bill No. 1451 becomes a law all schools in the country will be prohibited in denying admission to a teaching position of an otherwise qualified applicant on the sole ground that said applicant is an unwed mother, single parent or a member of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transexual (LGBT) community.
All schools are likewise prohibited from discriminating against their teachers who are unwed mothers, single parents and members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transexual (LGBT) Community and to provide penalties for its violation, that is, six (6) months imprisonment and fine ranging from fifty thousand pesos (P50,000) to one hundred thousand pesos (P100,000).
