House resolution to make Oct 5 teachers’ holiday
Pangasinan 3rd district Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas has filed a House resolution declaring Oct. 5 or World Teachers’ Day and every year thereafter as non-working day for all teachers in public and private sectors.
House resolution No. 2202 filed on Sept. 22 said that this is in recognition of the invaluable contributions and strategic role of Filipino teachers in both public and private sectors in nation building as Presidential Proclamation 242 declared October as National Teachers’ Month.
“In order to clearly demonstrate our care and a deep sense of collective gratitude to our teachers with whom none of us will be where we are now, they should be allowed even for a day to celebrate the World Teachers’ Day in the manner they see fit,” Arenas added.
