Naipasa sa House Committee on Basic Education ang House Bill No. 58 o ang Teacher Protection Act.
Representatives Antonio Tinio and France Castro sponsored the bill while ACT NCR Union President Ms. Joselyn Martinez, ACT Region IV-A UnionRegional Vice-President Ms. Rosalinda Nishikawa and Philippine Normal University Associate Professor Ms. Malou Santiago-Agustin presented their position papers in support of the bill.
The Teacher Protection Act aims to institutionalize measures governing student discipline and mechanisms for classroom management and to establish support for public school teachers and school personnel and providing for their protection in cases related thereto.
• School Manual/Code of Discipline
• Acts of the teacher or school staff pursuant to DepEd rules and procedure shall not be deemed as child abuse, cruelty, or exploitation under RA 7610
• 1:200 ratio of guidance counselor per student population
